Harrington Park II

Location: Harrington Park, NSW
Year: 2020 - 2022
Builder: Edgecliff Homes
Photographer: Knezz Media

This modern architectural home has been inspired and informed by industrial design elements, contemporary architectural principles and historic architectural movements. The bespoke home embodies the notion, “form follows function” (Louis Sullivan), showcasing the use of raw materials, and is the product of collaboration.

The modern architectural style emerged and developed as a response to the time. This home is not only responsive to its site and surrounds, but also encapsulates the future desires of its users. Just as the influential work of Bauhaus (1919-1933) aimed to bring artists and craftspeople together for a utopian purpose, this project brings the knowledge and skills of JMA and Edgecliff Homes together to work, and learn from one another.

The exterior façade appears as raw, monolithic, geometric and minimalist. Adopting features of the Bauhaus movement, this design poses a smooth façade which is complimented by cubic shapes. Generous outdoor living spaces are defined by the envelope of the home, allowing for spaces to funnel natural light within the open plan living, softening raw materials. This is complimented by open plan living spaces, scaling both volume and openness.
